Sullivans Island vacation rental home tips:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Sullivan's Island restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Sullivan's Island vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Sullivan's Island area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Ion by AvantStay
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
