Tips to get the very best Sullivan's Island vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the largest rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Sullivan's Island restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Sullivan's Island area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ion by AvantStay
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a certain Sullivan's Island beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
