Rental property booking tips:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Sullivan's Island area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Sullivan's Island area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Raven by AvantStay
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Sullivan's Island destination you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
