How to find the best Sullivan's Island rental experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Sullivan's Island area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Sullivan's Island visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the best rental home in Sullivans Island:
- First, have your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Classic Style Sullivan's Island house - Very Charming! 2 blocks to beach/ 1 Month Minimum Only! has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific Sullivan's Island beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
