How to find the best Sullivans Island vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Sullivans Island. To get the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Sullivan's Island vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Sullivan's Island visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Classic Style Sullivan's Island house - Very Charming! 2 blocks to beach\/ 1 Month Minimum Only! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
  • If there's a specific Sullivan's Island beach you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
