Tricks and tips to get the optimal Sullivan's Island vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer time is high season in the Sullivan's Island area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Sullivan's Island vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick a perfectrental:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Sullivans Retreat Amazing Views on Conch Creek, Pet Friendly 30 Night Min. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
