Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Sullivan's Island rental home experience:
When to book a Sullivan's Island rental & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Sullivans Island. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Sullivan's Island vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Sullivan's Island area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation home:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Sullivan's Island 5bd/4ba July 5th and 19th week open due has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
