Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer is high season in Sullivans Island. Booking your Sullivan's Island vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Sullivan's Island area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Sullivan's Island area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Fun Beach House has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
