Finding the best Sullivans Island vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Sullivan's Island area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Sullivan's Island area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Fun Beach House has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Sullivan's Island destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
